  • Submitting Photos to Apply

  • What type of photos are needed to apply?
Please attach at least 2 photos and up to 4. Photos 1 and 2 MUST to be in a swimsuit… it IS a swimsuit calendar, after all! ;)
Remember: The photos you submit with your application MUST BE RECENT. Read the TIP below.

Photo 1) You in a swimsuit, facing the camera.
Photo 2) You in a swimsuit, photo of you from the side.

TIP: Have a friend help you take the first two photos or use a mirror. The 2 swimsuit photos must be recent. Even a modern mobile phone will take 2 great photos to submit.
  • Uploading Photos

  • I am still having problems filling out the application and attaching/sending my photos.
If you are still having problems uploading your attached photos please try these few steps:

1- Create a new photo album on your Facebook profile and name it swimsuit or whatever is easy to remember
2- Upload the 2 or 4 photos you want to attach to your Women of KU Swimsuit Calendar application to that Facebook folder
3- Once they upload, go view that album and as you browse each photo, click and drag them, one by one, onto your computer's desktop.  Facebook's photo resizing works perfect with our online application size requirements.  It's a quick and easy way to fix photo format errors, photos that are too large to upload, etc.  Once you have clicked and dragged the photos to your computer's desktop, you can immediately delete the new album you created specifically for your application attachments.
4- Facebook will re-name your photos with long numbers and letters.  You can rename them again if you like to keep things straight.  **Make sure the file extension after you rename it stays .jpg** EXAMPLE: myphoto1.JPG, myphoto2.JPG
5- Fill out the application and at the end, navigate to your computer's desktop and find the new photos you just renamed. :)

If this does not solve your issue, please use the Contact link and send us a message.
  • How long will it take to upload my photos with my application?
Each photo you attach needs to be under 3 Megabyte or 300Kb in size. Please check this before attaching larger photos.
If your photos are too large in file size, you will receive an error message and your application WILL NOT go through.

ALL photos attached must end the file name with the 3 letters, .jpg. No other file types are accepted and your will application will not go through.

It shouldn't take over a minute to finish uploading all of your application photos if you are using a broadband (cable) connection. But
the larger the files, the longer it will take. Please be patient... We receive thousands of photos over the course of the application period.

  • Are their age restrictions to be in the calendar?
As long as you are 18 years old by the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year, you are good to go!
  • Do I have to be enrolled in the university to be eligible?
Yes. You must be enrolled and attend the 2021-2022 school year to be eligible for the calendar.
  • I will be in graduate school in the 2021-2022 school year, can I still apply?
Absolutely, graduate students are welcome to apply. Please let us know in your application if you are a grad student!
  • A friend of mine has been in the calendar more than one year. Can I be in it more than one year?
    Yes, you can!
  • What cool benefits and perks do you get when selected as a Women of KU Swimsuit Calendar model?
For starters, you are part of an elite, collegiate swimsuit calendar like none other out there. The Women of KU Swimsuit Calendar! We have advertising and business partners that take care of each model, all year long. We have some special treatments for the final 12 girls that make it in the calendar.
Oh yeah, there's a bit of celebrity status that goes along with all of it too... we're just sayin...
The calendar owner and photographer, David Gillispie, is amazing... he always makes sure you look your best in every photo. You don't need to have previous modeling experience. You can check out his Facebook page here, http://www.facebook.com/dave.gillispie and his website here, http://www.gillispiephoto.com If you are ok with some celebrity status on your shoulder, then apply now!
  • I realize this is a swimsuit/bikini calendar but, do I have to wear a swimsuit/bikini to be in it?
Yes. This IS a swimsuit calendar so you need to be comfortable wearing a bikini swimsuit that fits you well and taking part in a professional photo shoot.
  • Selection Process & Interview

  • How do you select the models in the calendar?
    Two-part answer
    1) The photos you attach to your online application is the first selection step. This is, after all, a swimsuit calendar, so find a bikini that flatters your body style. Also, a calendar model's positive attitude and willingness to become part of an elite group of girls during the school year, the model's personality, ability to participate in calendar appearances around the area and signing calendars are all a factor in the selection process. All of the models will be meeting and interacting with the public during the school year.
    2) There is also an interview process the calendar hosts for the final applicants. This is to meet the final selected models face-to-face. At the end of the interview you will have a quick photo taken of you in your swimsuit as a test shoot. It is basic and simple, nothing fancy, but serves as a reference for what you could look like in the real calendar photo shoot later that summer. After this interview the final calendar models will be selected and notified. Then the fun begins!
  • I have been selected for an interview! Where is it at and what should I wear?
The interviews will be held in Lawrence, Kansas. If you are selected, you will be contacted by one of the staff members a few weeks prior so you can adjust your schedule to be there. The interview process shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.
Please dress nice for the interview, a flattering outfit works great. You will need to wear a swimsuit under your outfit so a staff photographer can take a quick snapshot of you in it after the interview process. Or, you may bring one with you, and change in to it there. There will be a private changing area available for all models.
  • What if I have never modeled or been a model before?
Only a few selected girls have actually had real modeling experience before. The largest portion of applicants have no modeling experience. The swimsuit calendar's experienced and artful photographer, David Gillispie, has over a decade of experience - he will guide and direct you through your photo shoot each step of the way. We want to make sure we get the absolute best images of you for the calendar. You will quickly understand why all of the models David has worked with in the past speak so tremendously of him and his photography.
  • I have a scar/tattoo(s) that is visible. Is that OK?
Neither of these have any affect for applying and being in the swimsuit calendar. Noticeable scars will be digitally removed in Photoshop. Depending on the tattoo it may stay in or may be removed. No biggie.
  • I am not as tall as most of the calendar models... can I still be in the calendar?
Remember, this is not a runway fashion show... this is a swimsuit calendar. A model's height does not play a role in being selected for this publication.
  • Does my GPA alone affect my chances of being selected?
No, the calendar model selection process is not based on any one factor alone.
  • If I have been selected to be in the calendar when will I know?
All selected 2021 calendar models will be notified around the spring of 2021.
  • The Photo Shoot

  • When will the calendar photo shoot take place?
The photo shoot will take place sometime in mid-summer of 2021 and somewhere close to Lawrence, KS. If you are selected, you will receive more information on the location, time and all the details. :)
  • What about hair styling and makeup?
There will be a professional hair stylist and professional makeup artist provided at the photo shoots for every model. They will make sure you look your best for your photos!
  • Where will the calendar photo shoot take place?
Every year is unique... the location and backdrop for each model will be determined after the selection process is complete… if you are selected, you'll know where the photo shoot is we promise. ;)
  • How long will the photo shoot take?
Each girl's calendar photo shoot will take around 3 hours. During this time you will go through hair styling, makeup application, your calendar model photo shoot and plenty of time to hang out with all of the other calendar models. We take having fun seriously!
  • The business side of things…

  • What kind of company is Women of University Calendars and Women of KU Swimsuit Calendar?
We're not like the other guys...
The Women of University Calendars products are top-notch and of the highest quality… there isn't another collegiate calendar with higher production values… period. We've checked… and each year we check again. Our calendars and website are focused on the college coeds IN the calendar. We are not a system that lures you to a college calendar website and then leaves you to click on nothing but web advertisements and random web-articles bordering on inappropriate… with no actual printed calendar. This is an actual printed calendar, not an online, digital “print 1 calendar as it is ordered” business model. Those types of productions start and fail every day and that business model simply does not work no matter how much social networking the calendar promotes.
Each year we print a LOT of calendars for our sponsors, customers, supporters and Jayhawk fans!
Want more proof? Ask any previous or current Women KU Swimsuit Model about their experience when they were in the calendar. This is the very reason Inside Edition produced and broadcast a t.v. highlight about us… and the same reason premier advertisers like Fitness Magazine, Miller Coors Brewing and others sponsor us each year.
We strive to be open with communication and adhere to a transparent business model. Women of University Calendars models will never be asked to jello wrestle each other for crowd cheers, nor do we force our models to buy calendars. That's just not cool, unfair to everyone involved and not our style.
