Model Profile

What was it like being photographed in Florida this year for the 2013 Women of KU Swimsuit Calendar?
It was one of the funnest experiences I have ever had! I had never been anywhere on a trip except with my family, so being around some new faces was definitely refreshing. I made some good memories with the girls. We also saw some pretty cool places while we were all there!

What is your favorite part of being in the calendar?
My favorite part would have to be meeting the girls. I was a little nervous when we all first met at the airport, since this was the first time I really got to meet the the rest of the girls. We were all able to do some real unique bonding while down in Florida. I definitely have made some friends for life because of this blessed opportunity.

Why did you select KU for your university?
I actually attended JCCC my first year of college and it wasn't quite what I thought the college experience was supposed to be. I had every intention on attending UMKC, but my step-sister wanted me to join her for a campus visit to KU, so I went with her. While on the tour, I immediately knew KU is where I wanted to be...so here I am!

What's your favorite KU tradition?
My favorite KU tradition would have to be the Rock Chalk chant. There's a huge sense of unity I get with the other fans when we all do the chant. Gives me the goosebumps almost every time!

Describe one of your favorite things about KU and/or Lawrence.
One of my most favorite things about KU is the diversity of students you will find here. Not just ethnic diversity, but a rich combination of different individuals. I have an appreciation for those who refuse to just blend in, and I believe this really speaks about one of the more unique aspects that KU has to offer, as well as Lawrence as a whole.

Describe your typical weekend night in Lawrence.
It varies with who I hang out with, as well as the weather! I could be out at the bars with my girls on Mass street or I could be with friends, just hanging out at someone's apartment. There's one thing for sure: you'll always find something to do in Lawrence.

Do you have a favorite sport at KU?
Anyone who knows me will say, "She's a football girl!" Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of our notorious basketball program, but I've been raised as a lover of football.

What is the dream job you would like to have after graduation?
Haha, well I have a couple...ideally, I would like to do more modeling (time will only tell with that one). I am also very anxious in my career path as an occupational therapist; I would really like to explore new therapeutic techniques to be used with occupational therapy, as well as opening my own therapy business.

Why did you choose to be part of the Women of KU calendar?
I figured the Women of KU calendar would be a great way to get my foot into the door for modeling. Plus, I have talked to past KU calendar models and they had nothing but positive things to say about their experience with it.

List 3 or 4 words that describe you best?
1) goal-driven
2) independent
3) shy (especially if I don't know you)

Why did you choose your major?
Well, my major is Psychology with a COMS minor and I'm pre-Occupational Therapy. I was pre-Pharmacy, but after getting my job as a pharmacy technician in a rehabilitation hospital (though I liked the job very much), I was really interested in what I saw the therapists doing and figured it was a better route for my
interests. I debated with Physical Therapy, but Occupational Therapy incorporates more psychological components. Getting my undergraduate degree in Psychology, this is a match made in heaven for me!

Are you involved in anything on or off campus you are proud of?
I am involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters. This has been such a good experience, since my only youngest sibling was my brother, so it was pretty cool being able to mentor a younger girl, my "little sister." We made a scrapbook, decorated cookies, and shared small girl talk. I would definitely recommend this organization to anyone if they are looking to give back to the community or like being around younger individuals.

What special talents do you have?
Not sure if I would call it a talent, but I can throw down some mean dishes in the kitchen. Of all the cooking techniques, my favorite is baking. And nothing out of the box, I'm talking about homemade goods!

Name something that most people don't know about you.
Well, if you were to turn on the radio in my car right now, you would find it on a Christian radio station. Not a lot of people would want to admit that, but at every chance I get, I want to talk about the Lord. I mean, how could I not, He has been nothing, but good to me!

What do you look for in a guy? What is sexy?
There's nothing better to me than a guy who is humble. Even if he has all the looks, all the brains, and all the talents, he still needs to know that it is not he who blessed himself with it all, but God. I also look for a guy who is just as driven as I am in the pursuit of achieving his goals, as well as believing in all of mine. Lastly, he needs to be a mama's boy; the true mama's boys will know how to love and respect their woman :)

Tattoos - Turn on, turn off, I'm fine either way?
Definitely a turn on! Tattoos are a great way of getting a glimpse at someone's personality. Tattoos are unique in their own sense, whether its the design of the tattoo or the placement of it. The more different he is with his tattoos, the better. :)

Would you say you are more country girl or city girl?
Ooh wow… Hard question...I grew up a country girl until my first year of college. Still have some of those old roots I carry, but I also have incorporated some of the "city life" into my identity. There's a decent balance of both I suppose.

Roses or chocolates?
Roses, hands down....especially when they are unexpected :)

I want to say...
Thank you to Dave, for allowing me to be a part of such a wonderful, blessed opportunity. Also, thanks to Sean, Heather, and Brenda for helping us look our best for the photo shoot down in Florida. And to the girls, thank you so much for being such a wonderful group of young women. No doubt about it, we all hold a sense of pride in being able to represent KU with the Women of KU Swimsuit Calendar! ROCK CHALK!
