Model Profile

What was it like being photographed in Florida this year for the 2013 Women of KU Swimsuit Calendar?
Being part of the Women of KU Swimsuit calendar alone is honor enough, but having our photo’s shot on the white sandy beaches of Siesta Key was absolutely a dream come true! For me personally, it was more than a photo shoot. Up until that summer I had never actually been to or seen the ocean in person. Along with this amazing trip, I saw the ocean for the first time, made friends who are some of the most genuine people I have ever met, and without a doubt… had the time of my life! Would also like to give a shout out to Annie and her family for welcoming a group of rowdy girls to stay in there home! Much appreciation!

What is your favorite part of being in the calendar?
My favorite part of being in the calendar is knowing that someday I can show my grandchildren how “foxy” there grandma used to be!!! Ok, on a serious note, I love the friends I have made, the opportunities and doors that open from being in this calendar!

Why did you select KU for your university?
I chose KU mainly based on location and being able to stay close to my family. My older sister graduated from KU and absolutely loved it, and little did I know I would follow in her footsteps.

What's your favorite KU tradition?
My favorite KU tradition would be “Waving the Wheat” or running down to Mass Street after a big game to celebrate!

Describe one of your favorite things about KU and/or Lawrence.
The campus at KU is beautiful, hands down. I also love Lawrence because coming from a small town with nothing to do, to Lawrence where there is always something going on is a nice change.

Describe your typical weekend night in Lawrence.
Well, when I actually have a night off from work I will either go have a drink with some of my girls at a local bar, or have a nice night in with a Disney movie, glass (or two) of sweet red wine, and my rather large fuzzy blanket!

Do you have a favorite sport at KU?
My favorite sport would have to be track. I used to run track in high school and whenever I watch track in general I get goose bumps as if I were running the race myself! Not to mention our KU track team is in beast mode this year.

What is the dream job you would like to have after graduation?
I can honestly say I do not have a dream job in mind at this point and time. However I would like to be located somewhere warm such as Florida, (Thanks Dave, I am now hooked) and I’d like to feel happy with decisions and career path.

Why did you choose to be part of the Women of KU calendar?
My older sister was in the 2010 Edition and I saw how many doors it had opened for her as well as the friendships she had gained. To me, I felt the calendar was not only an honor but an opportunity! Not to mention being professionally photographed by Owner and Photographer of the Women of KU himself, David Gillispie, was absolutely incredible!

List 3 or 4 words that describe you best?
Ambitious, smiley, and outgoing.

Why did you choose your major?
For starters math and science is not my strongest suit, meaning the school of Journalism was looking pretty good for me. Once I chose Strategic Communications as my major I knew that this was the field for me, especially knowing that I no longer needed any more math or science courses! Overall, I take a much greater interest in the J-School than any other field.

Are you involved in anything on or off campus you are proud of?
I spend most of my time working whether this is Briggs (one of our LOVED sponsors) or the Cadillac Ranch! But I am proud to say that I have done many hours of community service throughout Lawrence.

What special talents do you have?
Well, for starters my arms and hips easily pop out of place, and if I forget to brush out my hair it will become dreaded in a matter of days! STRAIGHT DREADS.

Name something that most people don't know about you.
Based on my appearance most people would assume that I am a major “girly girl.” However, growing up I rode horses, went fishing, even worked on cars (mainly body work.) Growing up in the country played a major role in my life that most people do not know about.

What do you look for in a guy? What is sexy?
Top features I look for in a man… I am attracted to a fit physique, dark eyes, ambition is always good, one that knows how to open the car door for me, and a man who loves his mother.

Tattoos - Turn on, turn off, I'm fine either way?
TURN ON! My parents used to be bikers which should explain it, but I also have a tattoo of my own! LOVE THEM!

Would you say you are more country girl or city girl?
Both. Grew up country, currently live in the city.

Roses or chocolates?
Why not both? :)

I want to say...
I want to say that being part of the Women of KU Swimsuit Calendar is beyond a dream come true! Without Dave and the acceptance of being part of something so huge, I would have never seen, let alone stood in the ocean. I would not have met many of the amazing girls whom I stayed with in Florida, and wouldn’t have the recognition I have today. I just want to say thank you so very much to David Gillispie, for giving me such an opportunity!
